Wonderful Asik Asik Falls

Wonderful Asik Asik Falls

Like a scene out of Jurassic Park! This is Asik-Asik Falls, a hidden gem tucked away in Alamada Town, North Cotabato. Just recently discovered, this natural beauty was also featured in Fox News' list of Newly Discovered Wonders of the World. There were untold stories and the history of this place is still a mystery. Many folks said that this place is being inhabited by environmental spirits “Engkanto”.

The term “asik-asik” derived from visayan/ilonggo dialect for sprinkle. According to the locals, few years ago there's a big tree and its roots were attached to the rockies but when it fell off water from the rocks sprinkled and formed this 100+ meter wide spring falls. The water is cold and potable. This mystical falls is located in Sitio Dulao, Barangay Dado, Alamada, North Cotabato.

Masungi Georeserve Tour

Masungi Georeserve Tour

Hanging out in nature couldn't get any cooler in this big duyan. Last December, this park opened its doors to the public and became a traveler's goal. A home to massive limestone formations, and hundreds of plant and animal species, Masungi takes the spotlight as one of the best spots to visit.

Masungi Georeserve or, simply, Masungi – often misheard as Masungit or Masungki – is 1500+ hectares of conservation area whose most prominent feature is the 10-kilometer spine of limestone formations. The area is practically a maze of limestone, some of which are dated to as far back as the Paleocene and Eocene period – that's 66 million years old tops!

The Discovery Trail, despite being fully paved, offers the challenges of a minor climb, making it perfect for those who want to try mountaineering. The trail is for anyone looking to commune with nature while having a serving of adventure on the side.

Overall, Masungi Georeserve is the perfect barkada or family weekend getaway. You’ll learn a lot about their efforts to restore the beauty of the forests that were once destroyed by coal-making. Hopefully, the knowledge won’t stop there. Going to Masungi and hearing her story, I am definitely more conscious about how I impact the environment. Going to Masungi, I am more compelled to be proactive in trying to save Mother Nature.
