Portabaga Falls

Portabaga Falls is one of well known falls and is known as one of the notable sights of Cagayan, being one of the tallest in the entire Cagayan Province. About 15 meters or 41 feet high, the waterfall has 3 drop off points. At the bottom of the falls is a huge catch basin that was constructed for swimming.

Katibawasan Falls

Measuring a good 256 ft. high, the Katibawasan Falls in Camiguin flow to a rock pool bordered by ground orchids, wild ferns, trees and boulders.

Upon seeing the waterfalls, you will be amaze of how beautiful the sight could be. With water falling freely, plants and trees all around the place, clear water, you will feel that you are in your own world.

Buruwisan Falls

Buruwisan Falls and Lanzones Falls are the most known of the several falls that can be found in Siniloan, Laguna. To reach these falls, one must have an approximate of two hour trek from barangay Macatad in Famy, Laguna. You must finish a number of uphill and downhill trails in Mt. Romelo to reach the campsite where several nearby falls can be found.

To get on Buruwisan Falls from  Ortigas-Rosario-Junction-Antipolo-Teresa-Tanay, you can chance upon a passing Infanta bound Bus from Raymond bus lines because it follows this route. It will pass by the National Road so this is the most convenient way of reaching Macatad in Famy, Laguna. Just ask the bus driver to drop you exactly at barangay Macatad. Roughly 100 pesos for the bus ride. In our way there, We took 2 Jeepney rides and a tricycle instead. 

In Macatad, by simply standing beside the road in that area where the bus dropped you off, trek guides will approach you. The guide will bring you to registration area where you'll pay 20 pesos as entrance fee. There you have the option to either ride a horse or hike by foot. Guide fee costs 200. I didn't ask for the horse fee because I know they're offered especially for the weighty climbers.

Trekking starts from the registration area. Along the trail, if my counting was right, you'll pass by five wooden shacks. The campsite is near as soon as you hear the waterfalls and you see the small streams of water. You will descend few meters more and there you'll find yourself greeted by the green waters of Buruwisan Falls.

Daranak Falls

Daranak Falls nestles quietly at the foot of the Tanay Mountains, preserved with the natural vegetation, complemented with beautiful waterfalls, ponds, and rivers cascading through elaborate tropical trees and plants. This 14 meter high falls is truly a refreshing site. It is located at Tandang Kutyo in the town of Tanay.

Daranak's sign on the main highway on the  road was  a bit narrow and  there  was a  stretch of  unpaved  road.  Finally  when you reached the end of the road which was Daranak's parking lot for P20 per day. There were many picnickers swimming in the area of Daranak falls. Some were grilling their barbecues and fresh fishes in shaded areas near the river. The sight of Daranak falls was marvelous, thanks perhaps to the on and off rains.The water drop from the main falls was around 25-30 meters high. There is a smaller falls somewhere near the viewing deck, after descending from the stairs. The wind was strong so you can feel the gust of water droplets on your face. Which is bad for a lens change in the area. Further down the slope of boulders and rocky terrain leading to the edge of the water stream and catch basin.

Near Daranak is another falls, Batlag, from where the water gushing down Daranak falls is coming from. It is in a private property so another P20 per person is collected. To get there you will need to go back to the area where a small store and comfort/dressing room are located, then cross a small, make-shift wooden bridge across the river. The trail going up Batlag is cemented. You can reach the falls area after 15-20 minutes of walking. Batlag has a lot of small catch basins with mini-waterfalls.. The  river is shallow and the area is canopied by tall trees with some roots wrapped around the boulders and crawling above the soil. The place is not well maintained, though, as the picnic huts were already dilapidated, despite which, still the general area is a very refreshing sight to marvel..

Tinago Falls in Iligan City

Majestic Tinago Falls, Iligan, Lanao Del Norte by Mel Dumagdag - Tinago Falls is a waterfall in Iligan City, Lanao del Norte in the southern Philippine island of Mindanao. It is one of the main tourist attractions in Iligan, a city known as the City of Majestic Waterfalls.Tinago is a Filipino term meaning "hidden", the falls being hidden in a deep ravine. Trekking to the falls requires approximately 500 descending steps called the winding staircase.The falls is high, its very cold waters cascading beautifully into a deep and calm basin-like pool which appears like a blue-colored lagoon. Under the falls is a small cave where people can enter and listen to the rumbling waters.
