Masungi Georeserve Tour

Masungi Georeserve Tour

Hanging out in nature couldn't get any cooler in this big duyan. Last December, this park opened its doors to the public and became a traveler's goal. A home to massive limestone formations, and hundreds of plant and animal species, Masungi takes the spotlight as one of the best spots to visit.

Masungi Georeserve or, simply, Masungi – often misheard as Masungit or Masungki – is 1500+ hectares of conservation area whose most prominent feature is the 10-kilometer spine of limestone formations. The area is practically a maze of limestone, some of which are dated to as far back as the Paleocene and Eocene period – that's 66 million years old tops!

The Discovery Trail, despite being fully paved, offers the challenges of a minor climb, making it perfect for those who want to try mountaineering. The trail is for anyone looking to commune with nature while having a serving of adventure on the side.

Overall, Masungi Georeserve is the perfect barkada or family weekend getaway. You’ll learn a lot about their efforts to restore the beauty of the forests that were once destroyed by coal-making. Hopefully, the knowledge won’t stop there. Going to Masungi and hearing her story, I am definitely more conscious about how I impact the environment. Going to Masungi, I am more compelled to be proactive in trying to save Mother Nature.
