On The Way to Talim Island

Talim Island is located at the center of the Laguna de Bay lake under the municipality of Binangonan on the western side and the municipality of Cardona on the eastern side in the province of Rizal. The island is rich in bamboo grass, with which islanders make different types of furniture such as bamboo sofas, cabinets, tables, chairs and a lot more. It is the main source of their living, while fishing on the lake is only secondary.

Two parishes are located in the island. Santo Domingo Parish is located at Janosa, Binangonan, and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish at Navotas, Cardona.

One famous feature of Talim Island are the "Bundok ng Susong Dalaga" (Maiden's breast mountains) - two huge mounds of conical hills resembling the female breast, which are the highest peaks of the island. These two hills are among the more famous of several hills in the Tagalog regions who share the same name, because local folks of old often named identical conical hills as such. This feature is best observed from neighboring Mount Sembrano across the lake.

The island consist of 26 barangays, 17 from Binangonan and 9 from Cardona.

Loboc Floating Restaurant

One of Bohol’s well-known restaurants is the Loboc Floating Restaurants. The Loboc Floating Restaurants comprise of different boats that cruise along the Loboc River. Each boat has a different restaurant that basically offers a buffet-style, native Filipino cuisine. The price, which is about 300 pesos for adults, is basically the same for all boats, as the menu items are the only ones that differ. As the boat cruises along the river, guests can enjoy live music both inside the boat, and during stopovers, when they are serenaded by singing groups from Bohol. The restaurants are found near Loay Bridge near the Loboc River.

As the boat takes of, the buffet begins. On the middle table all kinds of Philippine delicacies are presented, and while eating, you can enjoy the lush green river landscape slowly sliding along your table. The small outboard engine works hard to move the vessel against the current. Life along the river side goes on as it must have done for centuries, with children swimming, people passing by in small bankas or canoes. On certain points along the trip, daring kids climb in a large coconut tree overhanging the river, and jump in the water very close to the floating restaurant.

The end of the trip, which takes about an hour is Busay Falls. The falls are not high, about one and a half meter at most, but mark the point where the floating restaurant cannot go any further, so here they stay for a while to allow the guest to look at the landscape. After some time, the return trip starts. Going downstream, we return much faster to our point of return.

Larsian Fuente

Larsian Fuente is located at the heart of Cebu City, Fuente Osmena, near the Fuente Police Station and Chong Hua Hospital. The place becomes alive starting at around 5 pm until the wee hours of dawn.

Barbeque food being offered in Larsian include the usual list of pork and chicken parts being sold in your neighbour hood barbeque store. But there really is something in larsian that makes the barbeque stand out from any other stores around the world. Some said it’s the sauce that makes the difference, others said it’s the ambiance, the mix of crowd, or simply the smell of grilled food that sticks to your clothes.

Pork barbeque is P5 a stick, there’s also Adidas (chicken feet), IUD (chicken intestine), helmet (chicken head), liver and gizzard, pork blood, chicken skin, and a lot more. Team that up with puso or hanging rice.
